Strand Homes is a Northland-focused house & land specialist, helping families step into new homes with the thinking done upfront — from site and design through to delivery and handover. We’re family-owned and owner-led, backed by a wider team and trusted Northland trades. The difference is accountability: you’re never dealing with a distant corporate chain. The Strand Story

Strand Homes was built on a simple belief: building should feel clear, not confusing — and confidence comes from getting the fundamentals right early.

Kevin Garton’s career in construction began in the 1980s and has spanned residential, commercial, and community construction across Northland. That breadth teaches you what really matters: site realities, buildability, sequencing, and the decisions that protect budget and reduce stress later.

In 2008, the Kevin and Sons founded Advance Build — a transportable homes business that deepened capability in offsite manufacturing, supply-chain planning, and repeatable delivery systems. The family sold the business in 2016, but the learning stayed: make key decisions early, standardise what should be repeatable, and keep delivery tight.

In 2017, the family acquired Durapanel Ltd, strengthening Strand’s understanding of high-performance building systems and practical innovation. And in 2018, Strand Homes was established with a clear focus: deliver quality, well-designed family homes across Northland through a guided, site-first approach.

Between Strand and the wider group’s experience, we’ve designed, built, and delivered hundreds of homes across the region — and we’ve seen where things go wrong when decisions are left too late. That’s why Strand stays grounded in what we do best: proven plans, intelligently adapted to site and lifestyle — and guided delivery from start to finish.

Shanon Garton
Co-Owner | Design & Planning

Shanon has been involved in residential construction for over 15 years, with a strong focus on prefabrication and buildable design. As a qualified carpenter, prefab frame & truss detailer, and licensed design practitioner, he brings practical design judgement to each project — making sure the plan suits the site, the details are resolved early, and the build starts clean. Shanon’s focus is simple: clear decisions up front, so delivery stays smooth and predictable.

Kevin Garton
Founder & Co-Owner | Delivery

Kevin’s career in the building industry spans more than 35 years across residential and industrial construction. He’s motivated by practical innovation — finding better ways to plan, sequence, and deliver work on site — and he pioneered New Zealand’s transportable housing market through a previous business. Today, Kevin helps ensure Strand’s approach stays efficient, buildable, and consistent — with owner-level oversight on delivery and a constant focus on doing the basics exceptionally well.

Vincent Garton
Co-Owner | Project Delivery

Vincent has designed and sold over 100 homes in Northland and brings deep experience in what clients actually need to feel confident during a build. Leading Project Delivery, Vincent is hands-on with coordination, progress, and follow-through — keeping communication clear and keeping the job moving. His role is to make the journey straightforward: the right decisions at the right time, fewer surprises, and a quality finish you’ll be proud of.

Harvey Garton
Co-Owner | Client Experience

Harvey joined the business from a background of helping family businesses grow through professional products and services. With experience in sales and marketing, he focuses on the client journey — making sure enquiries are handled quickly, expectations are clear, and clients always know what happens next. Harvey has a strong interest in property development and design, and he’s there to keep the process practical, responsive, and customer-led from first conversation through to handover.
